Local news outlets added that Meek was taken to UAB Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries two days later. They also reported that the Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the incident.

The Coast Guard has called off its search for a missing teenage couple believed to have gone swimming one night last week off of Oahu’s North Shore in Hawaii.
Human remains have since been located, though they have not been identified.
Coast Guard officials made their announcement ending the searchin a statementon Wednesday, Jan. 22, five days after Samantha Chun, 17, and 18-year-old Joey Fujioka were last seen.

A teenager has died after doctors misdiagnosed his terminal cancer as an ear infection.
In October 2024, Jac Sexton started experiencing severe headaches, double vision, slurred speech and “complete” loss of balance. After multiple doctor visits, the 19-year-old from South Wales had his symptoms dismissed as an ear infection from a recent bout of glandular fever, his family explained in aGoFundMepage. He was prescribed antibiotics and sent home.

A 19-year-old driver killed in a California car crash that also claimed the lives of two others had a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit and cocaine in his system at the time, according to multiple reports.
Soren Dixon had blood concentrations of 0.195% and cocaine in him when the Tesla Cybertruck he was driving collided into a tree, killing himself and passengers Jack Nelson and Krysta Tsukahara on Nov.

A school bus driver in Colombia was arrested after authorities say he allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a girl who escaped after 12 years in captivity.
Carlos Humberto Grisales Higuita was arrested on charges of simple kidnapping, sexual abuse with a minor under 14 years of age, sexual acts with a minor under 14 years of age and pornography with a person under 18 years of age, the country’s attorney general’s office said in a press conference.
