Tylais confident in her identity.In a new cover story interview withBritish Vogue, the South African singer, 23, opened up about identifying as both Black and “colored” in response to backlash from some fans who previously took offense over her use of the latter term due to its negative connotations.The controversy was sparked whena TikTok video Tyla posted in 2020referring to herself as a “colored South African” resurfaced three years later, and some viewers pointed out the historic use of the term in the United States to negatively describe Black people.

The couple, who went viral for their meet-cute online in June 2024, announced their breakup on their respective TikTok accounts on Jan. 2.
He added that a “breakup in the public eye is new” for him and “amplifies everything” but wanted to let everyone know because they’ve “been involved from the very beginning in Miami.”
“You’ve cared for us and supported us,” he continued.

During thePaley Honors Fall Galaat the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Wednesday, Dec. 4, Winfrey, 70, spoke of Perry’s charity work as he was honored with The Paley Honors Award for his landmark achievements in media.
“Tyler saw that special, and he reached out, and until this moment, no one has known that Tyler Perry has been taking care of those now almost grown children, making sure they have the financial, the psychological and the emotional support to grow themselves forward,” she continued.
