The 4-month-old infant, who died after she was exposed to extreme temperatures while aboard a boat with her family on Lake Havasu in Arizona last summer, died of complications of environmental heat exposure, PEOPLE confirms. Hemorrhagic shock is when “severe blood loss leads to inadequate oxygen delivery at the cellular level,” per theNew England Journal of Medicine. The anoxic brain injury caused a cerebral edema.
