Responding officers found the individual walking down the street when they attempted to have a conversation with him, the statement said. The man allegedly opened fire “almost immediately” and was himself fatally shot after officers fired back.
It wasn’t clear who fired the bullet that struck her. PEOPLE has reached out to St. Clair Township police for further information.

A mother-of-two has died after attempting to confront shoplifters at her workplace.
Ilson Miriam Kim was trying to stop two people who stole several items from her beauty supply store, Beauty Max, in Jacksonville, Florida, at around 6 p.m. local time on Friday, Dec. 6, when she was fatally run over, according toWSAZ 3andCleveland 19 News.

A 27-year-old sports anchor and reporter from Kansas City on assignment to cover the Super Bowl in New Orleans has died, according to his employer.
Adan Manzano, of Telemundo KC and Tico Sports, died on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Telemundo Kansas Citysaid in a statement.
“Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work,” the news station said. “We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community.

A Virginia man faces criminal charges after allegedly shooting his sons' mother’s fiancé and his friend — all in front of his two children, authorities say.
Jordan Daniel Pierce, 45, of Salem, was arrested on Sunday, March 2, and charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of felony, according to online court records.

Virginia couple Stephanie and Roger Haynos and their 16-year-old son, Cory, spent their final days together, traveling to Kansas so the talented young skater couldparticipate in a prestigious development campfor up-and-coming athletes.
Then, on their way back home, their plane collided with an Army helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., just as they were preparing to land. All three died.
