17-Year-Old Boy Dead, 2 Others Injured, After Crash Involving FedEx Truck in Oregon

A 17-year-old boy is dead, and two others are injured, following a rollover crash involving a FedEx box truck in Oregon, authorities said.

The teen was driving a Ford F-150 truck in Fairview on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. local time, when he crossed over the center line into the path of the delivery truck, theMultnomah County Sheriff’s Officesaid in a news release.

“The truck crashed head-on into a FedEx delivery van,” authorities said, describing the crash as “serious.”

The teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the FedEx driver was taken to a hospital with significant injuries.

The sheriff’s office said they don’t think that drugs or alcohol caused the accident.

None of the victims' identities have been released at this time. An investigation is ongoing.

“Unfortunately, people have a tendency to exceed the speed limit on Marine Drive," Plock toldNBC affiliate KGW. He noted that the road consists of two narrow lanes with no center median.

“We do see a number of accidents on Marine Drive, and so obviously, we encourage drivers that use Marine Drive to number one, follow the speed limit and really pay attention to where you’re at in your lane,” the spokesperson added.

He said, “There’s not a lot of room between the lanes, so it’s important to maintain your lane.”
