Officers with the LMPD’s Seventh Division entered one of the rooms and found the infant who drowned, police said.

“It’s really devastating because nobody would want anything like this to happen, especially at such a young age,” the 16-year-old sister toldFox affiliate WDRB.

Kiyah has organized theGoFundMe campaignfollowing her brother’s death to help “honor his memory and ensure he has a proper rest.”

The teen said Ki’arri “brought so much joy and light” into people’s lives, “and his absence leaves an unfillable void.”

“This is a pain I could never have prepared for, as he was my first and only sibling,” Kiyah wrote in the fundraiser’s description. “The grief we are experiencing is indescribable, and our hearts are shattered.”

Police said its homicide unit has opened an investigation into Ki’arri’s death.

No charges have been filed, according to WDRB.
