While the two have gone the distance, Kuch told Cooper that their relationship timeline included a six-month break after Rochell made his transition to pro football. The athlete was selected seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

“So we met in college at Notre Dame. He went to Notre Dame. I went to Michigan State, and the rest is history, except we broke up for like six months, somewhere in there,” Kuch told Cooper in New Orleans.

Cooper, who thought her decision was “interesting,” asked her to explain.

“I’m all for taking a break,” Kuch replied. “Well, not now, no. Now, we’re kind of in it, right? Like once you have a child, it’s kind of hard,” she added, referencing herdaughter Scottie Beeshe welcomed with Rochell in December 2023.

“But I’m like, you know, maybe I’ll leave for a week here and there,” continued the mom of one. “But I genuinely think that taking a break was so healthy for our relationship because we met, we were 19 and then he was handed a million dollars when he got drafted.”

“I was still in college,” Koch continued. “So it’s just, it was such a weird experience. So I think we had to like, grow apart for a second and then come back.”

The couple have been supportive of each other’s careers, speaking about one another on social media and on podcasts. Prior to Rochell’s retirement from the NFL in February 2025, Koch was a staple on the sidelines and cheered him on at games.
