Bailey Zimmermanhas issued an apology to fans after he performed drunk at theCrash My Playamusic festival in Cancún, Mexico.
“I’d like to talk about something that’s been eating me alive. Last weekend, down in Cancún, Mexico, I’m sure everybody’s seen the videos of me playing absolutely awful and singing absolutely awful and I feel like you guys deserve an explanation from me because you’ve had my back through the highs and lows and through every mistake,” he said.
The “Rock and a Hard Place” singer, 24, explained that he’d been drinking earlier in the day, which he now knew was a “mistake.”
“I got up on stage, and I was too drunk to play. And I sang awful, I played awful,” he said. “Nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for. And I’m disappointed in myself.”
“I want to show you guys the person that I truly am. So I’m just asking for a little bit of grace,” he said. “Man, growing up is interesting. It’s not an excuse, but man, thank you to everybody that’s got my back. Thank you for staying, thank you for showing me love and grace, and we’re gonna crush this year. But yeah, I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I fricken’ love you guys more than anything in the world and I don’t want to lose you. So forgive me, and I love you.”
In the caption of his post, Zimmerman added that he “let myself down” and was “so sorry to everybody,” but vowed to “be better.”
Zimmerman performed eight songs at Crash My Playa on Jan. 18, and was visibly drunk onstage as he performed shirtless in swim trunks. One video shows him jumping from the stage.
Later in the night, though, he redeemed himself afterLuke Bryanwelcomed him back to the stage, where the two performed a cover ofFlorida Georgia Line’s “This Is How We Roll.”
“My mother got him drunk today,” Bryan told the crowd of his mom LeClaire and Zimmerman.
Zimmerman recently announced his New to Country Summer Tour, which will kick off in June and go through September.
