When Courtney King found out she was pregnant just weeks before she, her husband and their two sons moved away from their family in Utah, she knew who she wanted to tell first: her 11-year-old niece, Saylor.
In a video that has since gone viral on TikTok, King (whose username is@courtneyyyking) wakes her niece to share the exciting news. King, 30, captioned the video, “Telling my 11-year-old niece I’m pregnant before anyone else, 3 weeks before moving away cross country.”
In the video, King holds a pregnancy test in her hand, telling her sleepy niece, “I have something for you … Open your eyes.”
Saylor is then handed a pregnancy test, and is seen looking totally shocked before saying in surprise, “No!”
“You’re the first person I told,” King tells her as they hug and cry together. “Well, now you can’t leave,” Saylor retorts.
King, who is pregnant with her third child, tells PEOPLE exclusively that she “woke [Saylor] up and told her immediately after [taking] the test.”

King, her husband, and their two sons lived in Utah for five years while her husband went to dental school. The family of four lived in the basement apartment of her sister’s house, where Saylor lives. In July of 2024, King’s family relocated to Western North Carolina.
She says, “We were all emotional and sad leading up to us moving away, so I knew I wanted that special moment just [between] me and her. There’s no way I could have kept it from anyone knowing we were moving away from them so soon after finding out!”

After telling Saylor, King shared the news with her two sisters in Utah and then her family on the West Coast over FaceTime. “It was very emotional telling my sisters and friends in Utah knowing that I was about to move somewhere with no friends or family and lose all that support," she adds.

“Because of our living situations throughout the years, we have spent countless one-on-one time together. I love to spoil her with ‘yes days’ and ‘Coco/SaySay dates,' ” she says, referencing their nicknames for one another. “I am so proud of the smart and sweet girl she is growing up to be.”
King adds that Saylor also “thinks it’s cute that people are saying we look alike.”
