“We are still in awe that we got to welcome our second son into the world this Thanksgiving week,” the couple tells PEOPLE. “We went through three years of secondary infertility and doctors said we would likely never get pregnant again, especially since we had five failed frozen embryo transfers.”

“But earlier this year, the miraculous happened and we found out we were pregnant naturally. The prayers and love from our friends and family were strong over the past nine months, and we are overjoyed to welcome Carter into our family.”

When it came time to decide on their second son’s name, Schneider and her husband pulled from their family tradition of naming their kids after former American presidents.

“Carter joins his older brother Lincoln and it continues our small tradition of giving our boys presidential names since we met and were married in Washington, D.C.”

Both of their sons also have ties to their grandparents in their middle names. Lincoln’s middle names — Michael and Robert — come from his grandfathers, while Carter’s middle names — Pauly and Dunn — are Schneider’s mom’s maiden name and her middle name, as well as Harrison’s mom’s maiden name and his middle name, respectively.

“We are so fortunate to become a family of four, but we recognize all of the people out there who struggle to start a family, and we hope our own struggle might give people out there hope,” they tell PEOPLE.

In 2019, Schneider and Harrisontied the knot at District Winery in Washington, D.C., the city where they met in 2017. The nation’s capital also served as the theme for the evening, with décor including a custom designed art deco poster of the couple’s caricatures against a D.C. cityscape background, and D.C. table designs from the bride’s sister Susan Schneider Hennelly.

“Washington was a bit wet and rainy on Saturday night, but the weather held out long enough for us to get amazing pictures at the Jefferson Memorial, my favorite monument,” Schneider told PEOPLE at the time.

“The wedding was a joyous occasion with friends and family in abundance and they all danced the night away!”

The journalist met her future husband on the Bumble dating app in March 2017 after moving to D.C. from New York City.

Although Harrison knew he wanted to get engaged after only six months of dating, it wasn’t until July 4th of 2018 when he got down on one knee and proposed with a redesigned version of his grandmother’s diamond ring. Schneider said “yes” at her family cottage in the Finger Lakes.
