The Rookieleft fans on the edge of their seats last week — and there’s still another week to go for answers.
In the most recent episode, which aired Feb. 25, some surprising sparks seemed to fly as James (Arjay Smith) worked with Kylie (Maria Zhang) at a shelter that was set up for evacuees during a wildfire. At one point, James stepped in to intervene when a man arrived and seemed to want trouble with Kylie — and the moment culminated towards the end of the episode when Kylie planted a kiss on James (who is very married!).
Still, trouble could be ahead as Nolan (Nathan Fillion) spied the kiss, which leaves James at risk of Nyla finding out.
The kiss might be the least of his problems, though, considering the episode ended with a major cliffhanger: the same man who James warned off Kylie returned to the shelter and shot them both.

The next episode, which will air March 11, is titled “The Kiss,” and per the logline, will see the LAPD team mobilize to “locate a suspect after a deadly series of events affects one of their own,” which seems to hint at James' fate remaining up in the air.
“They’re going to go straight through,” he said ofThe Rookie’s premiere schedule. “And that kind of momentum of original episodes week-in and week-out is just a very powerful engine for both of these shows.”

This week’s delay, however, was due toPresident Donald Trump’s address to Congress, which began at 9 p.m. ET, during the slot whenThe Rookiewould usually air.
