Dad’s Priceless Reaction to Daughter’s Pregnancy Surprise Nearly Knocks Him Off His Feet (Exclusive)

As a late birthday surprise for her father, Kassidy gifted him a white box. Inside? A set of ultrasound pictures revealing she was pregnant.

Kassidy waited until she was nine weeks along before breaking the news to her parents. The moment her father opened the box, time seemed to stand still.

“I knew exactly how my dad would react. He has always been very sensitive, which I admire. My husband is the same way, it is truly an amazing thing seeing the men in your life be confident enough to show their emotions,” Kassidy tells PEOPLE exclusively, admitting she didn’t expect him to take a seat.

Her father confirms his dramatic reaction was completely genuine. “My first thought was, I just aged 20 years in about 30 seconds. I just saw her entire childhood pass before me in an instant,” he says.

And yes – he really did feel like he might pass out. “I definitely got lightheaded, the sitting down was not for effect. I needed to sit down to process all of my emotions.”

While Kassidy’s father needed a moment to take it all in, her mother had more of an immediate reaction – one that had the family laughing.

“My mom’s excitement made the moment so much more thrilling! I knew her reaction was going to be more outgoing than my dad’s,” Kassidy explains. “My mother was in denial and even asked, ‘Is it yours?!’ Which, to this day, cracks me up. Like, no Mom, I found that ultrasound on the street!”

Despite her father’s initial shock, he couldn’t be more excited about stepping into his new role as a grandparent – though he has one small objection.

“Grandfather is not the proper term, that sounds too old!” he tells PEOPLE. “But I could not be more excited for this next chapter, seeing my little girl become a mother.”

One of the most emotional moments for him was learning that Kassidy and Jake had chosen to name their son after him.

“It was so special. I have never been more honored in my life. It is definitely a moment I will never forget,” he reveals.

After raising two daughters, Kassidy’s parents were overjoyed at the thought of finally having a grandson. They’re already thinking about the special moments they will share with him, such as his very first day of school.

Kassidy’s mother, Kiley, spoke about what makes her husband such a loving father.

“Brian is an amazingly passionate person. When he loves, he loves hard. I knew it had to be something special in that box, but never in a million years did I expect an ultrasound picture,” she tells PEOPLE.

“When you see a guy that looks big and tough on the outside, it is heartwarming to see the soft side when it comes to his family. It’s just one of the reasons I love him! I have no doubt that Brian and his grandson will have a special bond.”

She adds: “Growing up in a household of girls was always an adventure, but now having a little boy to share fun times and adventures with will be the best memories.”

Kassidy also describes her father as someone who has always been there for her, particularly throughout secondary school.

“My dad … is probably one of the most supportive people in my life as well. I started playing soccer the second I could walk all the way up until college. He never missed a game,” she says. “I even coach high school girls now for my alma mater, and he still comes to every game just to watch me coach.”

Given their close bond, Kassidy knew the pregnancy reveal would be a moment she would cherish forever. With a grandson named in his honor and a lifetime of firsts ahead, this proud dad and soon-to-be-grandfather is embracing this new chapter with a heart full of love.
