The trailer for the upcoming two-part documentaryNumber One on the Call Sheet— shared exclusively with PEOPLE — showcases the incredible contributions of Black leading men and women in Hollywood, celebrating their legacies and impact on the industry.

The documentary delves into what it means to be “number one on the call sheet” — a Hollywood mark of status for the lead actor or actress on a project. They’re listed first on the daily schedule and typically get top billing. In the documentary, the actors discuss the hard work they put in to get to “number one.”

For many of the actors, not losing sight of their true identity was critical in getting to the top. “There is something beautiful about being able to navigate that and still feel like you aren’t giving up who you are,”Cynthia Erivosays.Halle Berryadds, “Show people there’s more to me than meets the eye.”

Above all, they emphasize the importance of Black representation — not just for celebration, but out of necessity. “The audience is a huge part of our work, and they need to see themselves,”Viola Davissays. Union offers her own succinct point of view: “We put asses in seats."

“Number One on the Call Sheetcelebrates the grit, strength and brilliance of those who came before us, while uplifting the next generation,” Angela Bassett, who served as an executive producer and appears in the documentary, said in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “It’s an honor to pay homage to the legends, and shine a light on the limitless possibilities ahead for Black and Brown talent.”

What’s next for these actors who’ve reached the pinnacle of success? More success. “Once you get to the top of the mountain…”Dwayne “The Rock” Johnsonsays, pausing for dramatic effect. “Create more mountains.”
