The piece features a large marquise diamond — meaning it has an elongated oval shape with pointed ends — set on a diamond eternity band. To complement the stunning ring, Gomez opted for a simple nude manicure with short, rounded nails.

Ann Grimmett, Jared expert and VP of Merchandising at Jared Jewelers, estimates that the diamond contains 6 carats and is worth around $225,000.

“Selena Gomez’s engagement ring is fitting for a talent as rare as hers given less than 5% of diamonds are marquise," Grimmett says in a press release. “The shape represents that what’s old is new again, with a history dating back to the 18th century, but also represents the trend to elongated fancies that we have seen growing rapidly over the past few years.”

She continues, “Considering the large center in an eternity setting, we estimate this to be about 6 carats and the value would be around $225,000.”

Marrow Fine’s Jillian Sassone shares the significance of the marquise shape (which, coincidentally or not, is referenced in Gomez’s 2015 track “Good for You”). Perhaps the singer manifested this outcome for herself years ago.

“Traditionally associated with royalty, marquise diamonds feature elegant, pointed ends that create the illusion of a larger stone,” Sassone shares via email. “They’re also incredibly versatile — whether set north-south or east-west, marquise diamonds look stunning in both prong and bezel settings.”

The expert adds that marquise engagement rings are trending at the moment and will continue into 2025.
