Dog Found Alone in Home After Spending ‘Weeks’ with Her Dead Owners: ‘Can’t Fathom the Fear, Panic, and Confusion’

Asenior dogwas rescued after spending “weeks” in a home with her dead owners.

The dog, named Sugarplum, was brought to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville, N.C., on Dec. 11, according to aFacebook postfrom the shelter. It is unclear what exactly happened to Sugarplum’s family at this time.

“We can’t fathom the fear, panic, and confusion she must have felt for so long. Waiting for someone to remember her, to care about her,” the shelter wrote, noting that Sugarplum faced “unimaginable” conditions.

“Our understanding is that there was a wellness check performed, and at that time, her human family was found deceased,” a spokesperson for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue toldCleveland 19 News. “Sugarplum had been in the house with them for many weeks.”

The spokesperson also told the outlet that the dog is now in the care of a foster family while she awaits placement in a forever home.
