In a post shared toReddit, the anonymous 38-year-old writes that she is “a high risk pregnancy” and has been keeping a lid on things both to protect her child, and because her family members have a tendency to overshare on social media.

She continues: “I’ve told them I don’t know the gender (and don’t want to know because it doesn’t really matter either way) and we are set in our name choices.”

She adds that she doesn’t want to share those name selections, though, because she knows her family members will weigh in.

“I could tell I hurt her feelings but everything I do ends up all over social media which isn’t something I want for my child,” she adds. “My husband quickly told his family to back off and if they wanted to be involved then maybe actual effort instead of badgering me and trying to constantly give advice would be a better start.”

The situation, she adds, “blew up from there,” with her husband’s sister immediately posting about the situation on Instagram.

Now, the woman wants to know if she’s in the wrong for choosing to protect her privacy.

Commenters don’t seem to think so.

Adds another: “Just remember. If you don’t set boundaries, you’re telling your kids they can’t set boundaries. Even if it feels weird and kinda rude or mean, set your boundaries.”
