Felicity Jones Hasthe Most Relatable Parenting Reason for Why She Doesn't Get Out Much (Exclusive)

Felicity Jonesenjoys a night out on the town — at least when she actually has the opportunity to get out of the house.

The actress, 41, sat down with PEOPLE for the Thursday, Dec. 19 episode ofPEOPLE in 10to discuss her new historical dramaThe Brutalist, her recent Golden Globe nomination and why she doesn’t leave her home much these days.

“I have two very young children who like to keep me very firmly indoors,” Jones — who welcomed a son in 2020 and a daughter in 2022 with husbandCharles Guard— said.

The Oscar-nominated actress recently received a Golden Globe nomination for her role as Erzsébet inThe Brutalist.

The film tells the story of László Tota (Adrien Brody), a visionary Jewish architect who is separated from his wife, Erzsébet (Jones) during the Holocaust. It also starsGuy Pearce,Joe Alwyn, Raffey Cassidy andEmma Laird.

While Jones told PEOPLE she’s as “ready as I can be” for the upcoming whirlwind of awards season, she also noted that she tries to take it all in stride.

“You don’t want to get your hopes up,” she said. “So you just try and reassure yourself. You’re like — every step of the way — ‘This is great. Where [the film has] got to is great.’ And everything else will be the cherry on the cake.”

Jones also took a moment to dish on her special “vibe” with her costar Brody, 51.

“We didn’t have a lot of rehearsal for this film, so when we came to set, it was the first time that we’d done the scenes together. So we didn’t — I didn’t — really know what to expect,” she explained.

“But I think with Adrien — he’s just so good — and he’s so honest in his performances that he kind of makes everyone better around him. And we were lucky; we had a vibe, we kinda had a connection,” Jones added with a laugh. “We just went for it. You know, we just wanted to make it feel as believable as possible.”

The Theory of Everythingstar also revealed that she and the team behind the project had no idea whether their film would be well-received.

“In a funny way, you just never quite know how [a film will] hit an audience. And so, really, before [the Venice Film Festival] we just didn’t have a clue. You know, we sensed that it was different, and it was ambitious. But then, in Venice, we really saw how it connected to audiences. And that it really has so many universal themes in it," she explained.

“In part, it’s a love story,” Jones continued. “And it’s about these two people who are wanting to make this love work no matter what it takes. I feel like we’re all really desperate for a story of this magnitude.”
