Finn Wolfhardis looking back on his years as Mike Wheeler inStranger Things.

The actor, 22, spoke toVarietyabout filming the hit sci-fi drama show’s final season, which wrapped up production in December 2024. Wolfhard said leaving the show — which he spent nearly half his life working on — was an incredibly emotional moment for him.

“It’s the last 10 years of my life," said Wolfhard, who was 12 when he first appeared as Mike Wheeler in season one. “Also for the creators, the Duffer Bros. started when they were 30 and now they are 40. Everyone had a long journey and shared it together.”

He continued, “My whole childhood was there. It was sort of theToy Story 3moment of leaving your toys behind. It was really special.”

Wolfhard also noted the final season ofStranger Thingswas shot “Lord of the Ringsstyle” over the course of a year.

The actor shared that doing his first interview post-Stranger Thingsfeels like “post-graduation or something,” he said.

Letting go is tough, but Wolfhard is proud of the way the show will conclude. “It was a great way to go out and very intense,” he said. “I feel like it couldn’t have ended better.”

Seasons 1-4 ofStranger Thingsare now streaming on Netflix. A premiere date for the fifth and final season has not yet been confirmed.
