Groom Surprises Bride With Golden Retriever Puppy As She Walks Down the Aisle at Their Wedding (Exclusive)

A bride was shocked to see her golden retriever puppy at her wedding ceremony.

When Cameron and Jennifer Dela Fuente were wedding planning, they wanted to somehow incorporate their pet dog, Echo, into the nuptials but couldn’t for logistical reasons. Two weeks before the big day, the groom came up with a plan to make it happen.

“It was a last-minute, Hail Mary decision because I knew how much she wanted him there,” Cameron tells PEOPLE. “I got Sean, my little minion at work, to pick him up from one of Jenn’s bridesmaids' houses andBailey [Shea](assistant planner) helped plan it.”

The oblivious bride had come to terms with Echo not being a part of their special day. It “just wasn’t going to make sense” because everyone the couple trusted to watch or handle their then-1-year-old dog was going to be busy at the wedding.

“About 30 minutes before the ceremony, I had received a notification on my phone that was connected to Echo’s collar (a tracking device) that said Echo had left the house,” Jennifer recalls to PEOPLE. “One of my bridesmaids assured me that it wasn’t what I thought it was, so I went about walking down the aisle and genuinely had no idea until I turned the corner.”

The surprised bride immediately smiled from ear to ear and began choking up as she made her way down the aisle. Once she reached Echo, she knelt down in her wedding dress and gave him lots of love. In response, Echo — whom the couple welcomed into their family on April 15, 2023 — began wagging his tail nonstop.

“To have it all come to fruition was the absolute best feeling in the world,” Jennifer says. “I thought to myself, ‘Regardless how the rest of the day goes, this is my perfect ending,’ and it was the perfect day. The photos are so so special to us and will be cherished forever.”

“Echo coming down the aisle was the epitome of ‘golden retriever energy,’ " Carroll says. “Echo was so happy to see his dad at the top of the aisle and even more giddy to see his mom walking down, as you can see from the video! Tail wags GALORE!”

She continues: “He was the most well-behaved dog throughout the ceremony, and for them to enjoy it all with Echo was beyond special to witness.”

Carroll posted the wedding ceremony footage on TikTok on Feb. 9. Since then, the video has accumulated more than 500,000 views and 75,000 likes.

“🥹🥹🥹🥹 he’s like ‘that’s my mom,’ " an individual commented of Echo. Someone else wrote, “The way I would LOSE it.”
