Allen and Steinfeld werefirst linked in May 2023, shortly after rumors circulated that the athlete had called it quits with his longtime girlfriend,Brittany Williams.

In August 2023, Allen appeared on thePardon My Takepodcast where he wasn’t opposed to the hosts referring to Steinfeld as his girlfriend. The couple eventually made their relationshipInstagram officialin July 2024.

May 27, 2023: Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen step out for another date in N.Y.C.

Just two days later, Steinfeld and Allen werephotographed on another outingin the Big Apple, this time with two other people. The athlete sported an all-black outfit while theEdge of Seventeenactress opted for a black minidress and high-heeled boots.

May 29, 2023: A source confirms Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen’s relationship to PEOPLE

Steinfeld and Allen were officially confirmed to be dating, per a source close to the actress. The insider told PEOPLE the two had been “hanging out for a few weeks” and are a “cute couple.”

“It’s new, but they are having fun,” the source added.

May 31, 2023: Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen go on a sushi date

The new coupleenjoyed another datein N.Y.C., this time for sushi at Sushi By Bou in Chelsea. Michael Sinensky, the restaurant’s founder, posted a photo onFacebookof the new couple smiling, with Allen’s arm around Steinfeld, as they posed with Chef Sergio and another pair during their omakase experience.

“More fans of el chapo @chefsergio_nyc. Thank you bills Josh Allen for always stopping in when in town and loving Sushi By Bou,” Sinensky wrote, adding, “Also thank you for bringing in newbies Hailee Steinfeld and friends for the #chelsea #nyc experience.”

Allen was also featured in a solo shot with the chef, holding a flamethrower.

June 22, 2023: A source tells PEOPLE Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are “getting to know each other”

A few weeks after their sushi date, a source close to Steinfeld confirmed to PEOPLE that the two “are still dating and getting to know each other."

“He’s going to be very busy with training camp, though, so they’re not putting too much pressure on things and will see where it goes,” the source added.

During thePardon My Takepodcast, Allen wasasked if he’d seen headlinesabout him “making out with his girlfriend.”

“The fact that anybody cares about that still blows my mind,” Allen responded.

He added that some photographers had been invasive in trying to take photos of the two, recalling a specific instance where he spotted a photographer “on a boat” trying to snap a shot of him and Steinfeld.

Allen said it was a “gross feeling” and created a feeling of “insecurity” for the new couple.

October 2, 2023: Hailee Steinfeld is seen shopping with Josh Allen’s mom

Steinfeld stepped out to the Leveled Up Buffalo shop in East Aurora, New York, with Allen’s mom, Lavonne.

The two picked up some items in support of the Bills at the store and posed for a photo with the shop owner, Lindsey Vega, which was later posted on the store’sInstagram page.

October 12, 2023: Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen attend a hockey game

The couple were in the stands for the Buffalo Sabres vs. New York Rangershockey gameat KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Steinfeld and Allen watched the season opener from a suite.

January 7, 2024: Hailee Steinfeld evades questions about Josh Allen at the Golden Globes

At the 2024 Golden Globes, a reporter asked Steinfeldhow she was feeling about the night, holding up a Bills jersey. She just replied, “Real good,” and started walking away before she turned around and called out, “Wrong number though!”

At another point on the carpet, Steinfeld seemingly denied rumors that she and Allen were engaged, again not commenting on the relationship with a reporter fromE! Newsasked her about a ring on her finger.

“What is it about a sportsy man?” the interviewer asked, leading Steinfeld to merely reply, “Listen, what isn’t it about? Come on now.”

January 29, 2024: Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen spend time together in California

TheHawkeyestar was seen driving around Laguna Niguel, California, with Allen a week after the Billslost to the Kansas City Chiefs, ending their season.

February 21, 2024: A source tells PEOPLE that Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are in a “serious relationship”

Steinfeld and Allen’s bond continued to grow as a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that they were getting more serious.

“They always planned to spend more time togetherafter his season ended. Things have been going really well,” the source said. “They’re both very family-oriented and driven, and they want to protect their relationship and keep it private. They’ve been on the same page with all of that.”

While the question of a proposal remained up in the air, the insider confirmed that the idea was on the table.

“Hailee’s in a great place and would love to settle down if it’s with the right guy,” they said.

March 4, 2024: Josh Allen rips his pants during date night in Paris with Hailee Steinfeld

Steinfeld and Allen were spotted out and about on multiple date nights while attending Paris Fashion Week. One night of their trip, Allen was seen rushing out of the car with a shirt or jacket tied around his waist as Steinfeld stopped to take photos with fans while the couple was out getting dinner. The next day, he explained what happened to his followers onX.

“My pants ripped at dinner🙁🤣 Didn’t want cheeks out… I love Paris 😁,” he wrote.

July 23, 2024: Josh Allen goes Instagram official with Hailee Steinfeld

Allen publiclyconfirmed his and Steinfeld’s relationshipwith an Instagram post. The carousel of images included one of the couple in Paris and another at an Allen family gathering.

October 22, 2024: Hailee Steinfeld shares how she and Josh Allen avoided a “bad omen” in their relationship

In her"Beau Society" newsletter, Steinfeld explained that she and Allen both got each other the same chef’s knife in different colors for Christmas since they love to cook together, but the coincidence could have turned into bad luck.

“After weexchanged our kniveslol, he told me there’s an old wive’s tale that if you gift your significant other a knife you have to pay for it, otherwise it signifies the severing of a relationship,” she wrote in the newsletter, viaSports Illustrated. “So we exchanged quarters so we didn’t have that bad omen.”

December 18, 2024: Josh Allen opens up about Hailee Steinfeld supporting him during football season

While talking to reporters about his MVP-worthy football season with the Bills, Allen said that Steinfeld has been a “huge part” of making it happen.

“The morale, the support. When I get home, she’s my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. She’s just the best,” he said.

Later, Steinfeld celebrated Allen’s achievement with anInstagrampost that included a photo of her fiancé accepting the award at the event. She wrote, “That’s MVP Josh Allento you! 👑.”

February 19, 2025: Hailee Steinfeld shares more details of Josh Allen’s proposal

In a cover story forWho What Wear, Steinfeld said that since the proposal was a total surprise, she was glad Allen made sure she was dressed up for the big moment.

“We were in Malibu, which is my happy place, andit was magical. That’s the word,” she said. “I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I’m not looking at being like, ‘What was I wearing?’ "
