Kansas City Chiefs kickerHarrison Butkertook a solo trip to the White House to meet withPresident Donald Trump.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, the White House and POTUS official Instagram accountsposteda photo of Butker, 29, meeting with the president, 78. The Chiefs kicker was seen shaking Trump’s hand during a conversation in the Oval Office.

Butker’s visit comes before the winning Super Bowl team, the Philadelphia Eagles, make their trip to the White House to celebrate the win, an annual tradition for NFL champions.
Despite conflicting reports around whether or not the Eagles would accept a visit to Trump’s White House, the team has not yet been officially invited, according toCBS, though they are expected to receive the invite soon.

After a Feb. 6article in theU.S. Sungained traction claiming the Eagles had already turned down the visit,Outkick.com founder Clay Travisreported, “White House source: the Philadelphia Eagles have not rejected a White House invite. The reports that have gone viral on social media are fake news. The White House has not even sent the official invite to the Eagles yet.”

Butker, a strong supporter of Trump’s during his 2024 campaign, made headlines last year when he delivered a controversial commencement speech during a college graduation.
The NFL player’s 20-minute address included attacks on working women, the LBGTQ+ community and families who utilize surrogacy and in vitro fertilization (IVF), President Joe Biden and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Months later,Butker said his wordswere “very intentional” and “I stand behind what I said.”
