Dana Leigh Mustian was last seen on Nov. 30, 2023, on Dorothy Drive in Warrenton, N.C., according to astatementfrom the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

Family and officials said Griffin did not show up for her daughter’s 6th birthday party in early December 2023, according toCBS affiliate WNCN.

An official cause of death has not been released. Griffin’s disappearance and death remain under investigation, according to authorities.

Mustian’s older brother, who remained anonymous, toldWNCNin January 2024 that his sister loved her daughter “more than anything in the world.”

“It’s been a nightmare,” the brother said at the time, per the outlet. “I can’t even put into words how somebody just vanishes without a trace.”
