KayCee Strohhas finally shared the magic ofHigh School Musicalwith her little ones.

“They’ve grown up with this being such a huge part of my life,” the actress tells PEOPLE. “I get stopped at the grocery store and the drive-thru and everywhere we go, and they’ve always known” their mom was in the Disney movies.

She continues to share, “It was this ongoing joke in our family of how they didn’t want to watchHigh School Musicalyet, and so we just had a lighthearted joke about it.”

Stroh’s family of four then watched the first movie together. “I was waiting for the response and they’re like, ‘Can we put on the second one? Can we stay up late?’ Which I thought was so cute to finally have that moment.”

She adds, “They were pointing at the screen and being like, ‘I see you, I see you.'”

Now watching the movies back as a mom, Stroh tells PEOPLE thatHigh School Musicalreally does hold up no matter what age you watch.

“I was like, this is so good. I’m looking at this with different eyes now, and all of these songs are absolutely beautiful. The lyrics are timeless. The dance numbers were phenomenal,” says Stroh. “I’m like, wow, we did something really good here.”
