Sandy Powellis continuing to sprinkle her Disney costuming magic inSnow White.

The Oscar winner — known for her work on films likeShakespeare in Love(1998),The Aviator(2004) and, of course,Cinderella(2015) — brings her expertise to Disney’s newest live-action reimagining, starting with a “direct reference” to the original 1937 animatedSnow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

She continues of Snow White’s costume, “I also decided to give her long sleeves to give a more period feel reminiscent of the Middle Ages.”

Gadot, meanwhile, says her experience working with the “so established and talented” Powell was “amazing,” adding, “She knew what she was doing, and she took everything very seriously.”

“The amount of research and all the different images she showed me was mind-blowing,” she says.

“Her costumes for theKenneth Branaghlive-actionCinderellawere so beautiful that it made perfect sense for her to do a movie like this as well,” Zegler says.

While it might be difficult to put one’s own stamp on a story that’s close to a century old, theWest Side Storyactress says Powell pulled it off: “She was able to keep the class and what makes the original classic but also gives it a spin that’s just incredibly Sandy.”
