Joseph Quinnis giving more tidbits to Marvel fans aboutThe Fantastic Four: First Steps.
On the heels of the movie’steaser-trailer release, the 31-year-old actor spoke atMegaCon Orlandoin Florida, about his role as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and about what fans can except from the movie.
Asked what his first thought was when he first put Johnny’s superhero costume on, Quinn jokingly said during a panel on Sunday, Feb. 9, that “I’ve got to do some sit-ups!”

Quinn added that he was “shocked” to have the opportunity to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, raving about how it feels to be part of something “that brings so much joy” to so many people.

Adding to the variation is the setting for the new movie: a 1960s style, which is a contrast from recentFantastic Fourfilms set in modern times. The film’s director,Matt Shakman, said the superhero quartet will be saving lives in athrowback aesthetic.
“We’re not just doing the ’60s, we’re doing retro-future ’60s,” he explained. “It’s part what you know from the ’60s, but part what you’ve never seen before.”

Speaking with PEOPLE in June 2024, Quinn said he hadn’t spoken withChris EvansorMichael B. Jordan, who have played Johnny Storm on the big screen in previous iterations.
However, he realizes Evans, 43, and Jordan, 38, havegiven him “big boots to fill, twice.”
“They’re both brilliant actors and did the amazing job with their interpretation of Johnny,” Quinn said at the time. “So I think it’s a question of trying to find something … well, not different. It’s going to come from me, I guess.”
