Katie Holmes Defends Decision to Push Back Against False Reports About Daughter Suri's Inheritance: 'It's Dangerous'

On Sunday, Dec. 8, the actress, 45,shared a post on Instagramthat publicly called out false reports regarding her 18-year-old daughterSuri’sinheritance. One of the articles claimed that Suri’s dadTom Cruise, 62, was giving her a million-dollar trust fund that had “kicked in,” which Holmes shared was “completely false.”

“You can stop making stuff up,” she wrote across the photo, adding, “Enough” in the caption.

The actress wrote back, saying that although she “doesn’t disagree” with the person’s take, she still feels that it’s important to defend her daughter. “But in the world today, I don’t want a target on my child’s back,” Holmes said. “It’s dangerous.”

Holmes and ex Cruise welcomed Suri in 2006. After nearly six years of marriage,the former couple split in 2012.

“What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,” Holmes told the outlet at the time.

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent,” she added. “She’s an incredible person.”

In June this year, Suri and her momwere photographedcelebrating the teenager’s graduation from her New York City high school. The pair were seen posing for photos together and hugging, as Suri wore a red cap and gown over a white dress.
