Laura Wrighthas been holdingCameron Mathisonclose to her heart.

On Wednesday, Feb. 5, theGeneral Hospitalcostars opened up about filming amid theLos Angeles wildfires, in which Mathison’s Altadena home burned. During an appearance onThe Jennifer Hudson Show,Wright revealed that she had a tough scene with Mathison the day after he lost everything, so she made sure to show him some extra love off camera.

“I had to yell at Cameron,” she explained. “I had to go up to Cameron, and I’m like, ‘Can I please hug you? Cause I’m getting ready to start yelling in your face.’”

Mathison laughed at the memory, saying: “She came up and apologized first. My character has got reason to be yelled at at the moment!”

“Laura was very sweet,” he continued. “She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry but I’ve got to lay into you today after you just lost your house and everything you own.'”

“And you were like, ‘Please do. I think I need a distraction!'” Wright chimed in.

The Eaton and Palisades fires broke out on Jan. 7, ravaging through L.A. for nearly a month until they were finallydeclared 100% containedon Jan. 31. In the weeks since Mathison shared that his house didn’t make it, he said he has received a tremendous amount of support.

Mathison’s castmates went on to commend the strength he has displayed throughout the devastation.

“The way Cameron has handled this, he comes to work every day, you wouldn’t know,” Donnell Turner said. “A consummate professional, a good guy, it just makes you want to help out."

Finola Hughes added: “The grace with which he’s handling it is quite something.”

On Jan. 8, Mathisonreturned to his homeafter evacuating to find it gone. He took to hissocial mediato show the charred remains, offering his followers a tour of the ash-covered grounds.

“We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home,” he wrote alongside the video. “Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
