Lauren Sánchezshared a video of her first call withBlue Origin’s all-female space crew.Last month, it was announced that Sánchez, 55, and five other women — including fellow award-winning journalistGayle Kingand singerKaty Perry— will visit space on a Blue Origin rocket this spring.The crew — which also includes former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn — expressed excitement for the trip, as seen in clips shared in anInstagram postSánchez shared on Friday, March 7.“I just kind of want everyone to take a deep breath and soak this all in for a second,” Sánchez said at the beginning of the call. “Today, you guys, we’re a crew!”“Wow, I just got chills!” said Nguyen, 33, in response, though King, 70, expressed some apprehension.“Is anyone else nervous?
