Man Charged with Killing 2, Including Local Rapper, Outside Funeral Reception in Alabama

A man has been charged in connection with the double homicide outside a funeral reception in Brighton, Ala., that killed two men — including rapper Landlord Lo.

James David Abercrombie, 27, was charged with the murders of Roderick Hall, 38, and D’Angelo Le’Marcus Samuel, 27 (a.k.a. Landlord Lo), after they were fatally shot on Dec. 13 during a funeral that honored Samuel’s uncle, Fredrick Lee Samuel, 62,Al.comreported.

Abercrombie also faces charges related to shooting into a building and possessing a firearm, the outlet added.

The Dec. 13 shooting took place at the Brighton Community Center. Police were called to the scene just before 2:30 p.m. local time, according to AL.com.

Both victims sustained injuries to the head and were pronounced dead at the scene, the outlet added.

Brighton Police Captain and Assistant Fire Chief Kenneth Hooten was one of the first to arrive at the scene of the double homicide.

Hooten described Hall to AL.com as a “down-to-earth guy” who “didn’t bother anybody.”

“I went to elementary school with him before I became a cop or a firefighter,” he said. “[We] hung out, and we’d check in on each other from time to time.”
