Man Shot Dead While Entering Booby-Trapped Home, in South Carolina

Jordan Dove, 34, of Lugoff, was found with gunshot wounds when police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Chickadee Circle in Saint Matthews on the evening of Monday, Feb. 24, Sheriff Thomas Summers said in anews releaseshared on Facebook on behalf of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

“Upon getting on scene, it was determined very quickly that the discharge of the firearm came from inside the residence,” Summers said in the release.

A shotgun was found “rigged at the back door” to strike anyone attempting to gain entry, Summers said. Police were able to dismantle it from the trap before continuing to assess the scene.

The front door was barricaded shut with no other occupants inside, authorities reported.

Homeowner Alfonzo Brown, 66, is set to face charges,ABC Newsreported.

According to local media outletNews 19 WLTX, Brown was Dove’s uncle.

He wasn’t home at the time of the incident as he is currently facing charges for allegedly trying to kill a “different nephew and two other people.”

Brown is being held without bail at Prince George’s County, Maryland, facing 20 separate charges including attempted first and second-degree murder, assault in the first and second degrees and reckless endangerment, News 19 WLTX reported.

Brown will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on March 7, according toWUSA 9.
