Man Was Allegedly Caught in the Act of Sexually Abusing a Child, Then Said, 'It Is What It Is': Police

A man was arrested after authorities allege he was caught sexually abusing a child in Alabama.

When deputies responded to a call on Jan. 19, they learned the child’s family had detained the suspect after he was allegedly caught in the act, according to astatementfrom the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, the alleged victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During questioning, Lopez-Martinez allegedly confessed to sexually abusing the child, telling an investigator, “It is what it is,” the statement reads.

“I would like to thank Deputy Fontenot and Investigator Wilson for their dedication and tireless efforts in seeking justice for this innocent child,” Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin said in the statement.

“Their efforts reinforce our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community and ensuring that justice is served.”
