Miley Cyrus Doesn’t Want to ‘Get Involved’ in ‘Family Drama’ amid Brother’s Strain with Dad Billy Ray (Exclusive Source)

Miley Cyrusis staying out of the recent drama surrounding her famous family.

A source tells PEOPLE exclusively that the singer, 32, wants no conflict with loved ones as brotherTrace Cyrusvoiced concerns for their father,Billy Ray Cyrus, following hisperformanceduring PresidentDonald Trump’s inaugural festivities earlier this week.

“She’s in a great place now. She’s thriving and looking out for herself,” the source adds of Miley, who is currentlynominated for an awardat the upcoming2025 Grammysfor her work onBeyoncé’sCowboy Carteralbum.

Miley has spoken candidly about the complicated relationship she has with her father in recent months.

During an interview withDavid Lettermanon his Netflix seriesMy Next Guest Needs No Introductionin June 2024, Miley discussed thegood and the bad things she’s learned from Billy Ray, 63.

Months later, during a November 2024 cover story interview withHarper’s Bazaar, Miley spoke about aboutworking with the people closest to herand gave a nod to her father, stating, “I worked with my dad forever.”

As for the “Angels Like You” musician’s relationship with her mom,Tish Cyrus, a source tells PEOPLE, “She has a great relationship with her mom. She’s happy her mom is doing well too.”

The recent drama surrounding the Cyrus family began after Billy Ray performed at The Liberty Ball during Trump’s inaugural celebrations on Jan. 20.

At the time, the country star experienced technical difficulties during his performances of “Achy Breaky Heart” and hisLil Nas Xcollab “Old Town Road.”

The following day, Billy Raytold PEOPLEin an exclusive statement that it was an “honor” to play the event, and he doubled down on those sentiments again in anInstagram poston Jan. 22.

A source recentlytold PEOPLEthat Billy Ray’s voice “has changed, and he’s been really insecure about it.” They added that Billy Ray performing at the Trump event was theHannah Montanaalum “putting himself in a vulnerable situation.”

Also on Jan. 22, Trace — who Billy Ray adopted in 1993 after marrying now ex-wife Tish — penned anemotional letter on Instagram, expressing concerns for his father.

“It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point,” Trace, 35, wrote, in part.

He also included a seeming reference to his sisters Miley,Noah CyrusandBrandi Cyrus— who Billy Ray also adopted in 1993 — writing that they are all “genuinely worried” about their father, who Trace also said has “pushed” them all away. (Billy Ray also shares son Christopher Cody Cyrus with ex-girlfriend Kristin Luckey and sonBraison Cyruswith Tish, 57, whomhe divorced in 2022.)

“We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it,” Trace added, later concluding: “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”

Despite all the ups and downs, a Cyrus family source recently told PEOPLE that Miley, her siblings and mom want to leave tension in the past.

“They got through the drama of 2024, and it’s a new year,” the insider explained. “Miley and Noah and Braison and Tish, they don’t want to be this Cyrus family feud. This is not enjoyable for them.”
