For the event, held on Thursday, Feb. 13, Kaling, 45, wore a form-fitting gold gown with sequins and embellishments, with gold leaf appliqués at the gown’s sheath skirt. She kept her accessories to a minimum — highlighting the gown’s many elaborate details — and wore three silver rings.

Kaling’s look was completed with gold and bronze eyeshadow, a brown glossy lip and rosy pink blush. She wore her long black hair in very loose waves that were swept behind her back.

You can always count on Kaling to make a glam entrance for a red carpet event. At last year’s Met Gala,Kaling’s Gaurav Gupta gownwas so voluminous it required handlers to help the actress up the steps at the Met Museum.

Despite its colossal size, the look managed to exude an ethereal aura with its floaty, sheer layers and curved draping details on the sweetheart-neckline bodice. The gown’s fabric had subtle silver accents here and there for a touch of sparkle.

To keep the spotlight on her show-stopping dress, Kaling opted for understated glam, with the exception of a smokey eye, and had her short bob styled in soft curls at the ends.
