Mindy Kaling Reacts to TikTok Analyzing Her Appearance on Meghan Markle's Netflix Show: 'Fascinating'

Mindy Kalingis setting the record straight about her cameo onMeghan Markle’s Netflix show.

The actress, writer and producer appeared onThe View’s March 6 episode, where she was asked about her appearance onWith Love, Meghan.

“You know, I had a great time,” Kaling, 45, said. “I’ve noticed that whenever I do something, anything, related to Meghan, it becomes…”

“Big news,” Whoopi Goldberg offers, which Kaling echoed.

She continued, “We were making sandwiches, and then they’ll push in on my face on TikTok and they’ll be like, ‘Look at this emotion you felt,’ and I honestly didn’t even remember it because we shot it like, nine months ago.”

“I loved my time with Meghan,” Kaling continued. “I’m also like, let her promote her show. It was great and really fascinating seeing the reaction.”

Kaling joined the Duchess of Sussex, 43, on the second episode of the series, where the women bonded over being mothers as they put together a party for kids.

To that, Kaling replied, “People wouldn’t believe that Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box."

Meghan said, “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now.”

“You have kids and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children,’ ” the Duchess of Sussex continued. “I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name, our little family name.”

Meghan opened up more about the significance of the Sussex name inan exclusive interview with PEOPLE, saying: “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me."

Sharing that the name “is part of our love story,” she continues, “I think as the kids get older, they’re so excited about, ‘Oh my gosh, Mama and Papa, how did you meet?’ I think that will come with time as they get older, but for right now a huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex.”

Meghan and Kaling have been in contact sinceThe Officestar appeared on Meghan’sArchtypespodcast in 2022. In an interview withTime,Kaling revealed that it was shortly after thebirth of her third childwhen Meghan reached out and asked her to join her on the show.

“I was on maternity leave with my daughter in March and April, and Meghan texted me that she was doing a show where she was going to cook for her friends,” she told the outlet. “Would I want to come to Montecito and have her cook for me? I wanted to get taken care of in that moment of my life. That was a fun maternity leave field trip.”

Kaling also went home with some goodies: “I left with a basket of fresh produce and homemade jam and hot sauce because she knew I loved hot sauce. She’s a very generous woman who knew I needed a break.”
