A 14-year-old boy has been found alive after he went missing while snowmobiling near the Utah-Idaho border.

The boy was found on Sunday, Feb. 9 — one day after he disappeared while snowmobiling in the Whites Canyon area of Idaho, theFranklin County Sheriff’s Officesaid in a statement on Facebook.

“The family requested he be transported to the hospital as a precaution, where he could be further evaluated and checked,” the sheriff’s office said.

“All responders on location were audibly and visually relieved when the radio traffic came across that he was located and was okay,” the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in their statement.

Search and rescue teams spent nearly 24 hours searching for the missing snowmobiler. The department said a snowstorm hindered their efforts, dropping 10 to 12 inches of new snow in the area.

“[He’s a] first-time snowmobiler, and so he just didn’t feel like he could go any further on [the] sled,” Stoker added.

The agency thanked crews from several counties and agencies for assisting with the search. They did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

“We live in a wonderful area with people who are dedicated to helping others in their time of need,” the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said in the Facebook post. “We are especially thankful that he was reunited with his family.”
