Nick went on to note that having issues in a near-two-decade-long relationship is normal, and explained his opinion on what it means to find “the one.”
“Anything that’s worth having takes work,” he said. “To me, that’s a cornerstone of life, and marriage is no different. There’s no shame in that.”
He continued: “There’s no perfect person. There’s just your person.”

In July,Nick opened up to PEOPLEabout being intentional in his marriage to Vanessa, saying that making time for one another is a non-negotiable.
“Sometimes you have to be deliberate. You have to make deliberate attempts because the spontaneity, the romance, whatever you want to call it that existed pre-kids, it just can’t exist the same way,” he said at the time. “And I would argue that it shouldn’t exist the same way because your priority should be your kid, but you have to also make time to prioritize each other.”
“And if you lose sight of that and lose track of that, then I think that’s when you can get into some trouble,” he continued. “So make it deliberate. There’s no shame in that. You’ve got to make it deliberate. Make time for each other, make it a scheduled thing if you have to, but make sure you give that to each other.”
