Tom Daley’s youngest son has apparently inherited his athletic side.

The retired British diver has two young boys with his husbandDustin Lance Black, but sonPhoenix Rose, 20 months, is “like, feral,” Daley, 30, jokes.

“He is like a climber, runner, jumper,” Daley tells PEOPLE at the Out100 Celebration in Los Angeles on Dec. 11. “Like anything he can do to try and hurt himself, he will try and do.”

His sonRobert “Robbie” Ray, 6, though moves at a bit of a slower pace, Daley says.

“Whereas Robbie is slightly more on the creative side, like doing things slowly and like building Legos and all that kind of stuff, whereas Phoenix is all about the adrenaline,” thefive-time Olympic medalist explainswhile at NeueHouse.

Now, as he enters retirement from the sport that made him famous, his “number one priority are my kids, and making sure that I get to spend as much time with them as possible.”

And heading into the holiday season, he’s excited to celebrate with Phoenix and Robbie, as well as other family, in Los Angeles.

“We always make Christmas cookies in the build-up to Christmas,” says Daley. “It’s only really been in the last couple of years, but we normally go to like a drag brunch or something like that on Christmas Eve before our family gets to town. There’s lots of traditions. . . . I love the holiday season.”
