Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, best known for his roles inStreet FighterandNecessary Roughness, has died. He was 61.
The late actor’s son Manoah confirmed his death in aFacebook postshared on Monday, Feb. 10, writing, “With a heavy heart… our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16 a.m.”
“My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here,” he continued. “We will continue to live with him in spirit, and as saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain.”
“His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt,” he added, noting that celebration of life details were being prepared and would be announced at a later date.
Manoah confirmed toTMZ— who first broke the story — that his father died in Phoenix, Arizona after experiencing heart complications. He described his father to the outlet as “a trailblazer for Polynesian actors in Hollywood.”
Peter began his acting career in the 90s with a role as Manumana inNecessary Roughnessbefore going on to star inStreet Fighteras E. Honda, who was a popular character in the videogame series. He also played Ed Tuttle inBASEketball.

He made several small appearances in other notable films likeThe Scorpion King,The Fast and the Furious,Austin Powers in GoldmemberandSpeedracer. Yet, he thrived in television, featuring on various hit shows likeMagnum P.I., Black-Ish, NCISandThe Young and the Restless, where he made an appearance as the character Koa.
Several fans shared praise for the actor on Facebook, including one who wrote, “Beyond Heartbroken! No words I can say at this. Sad, sad day.”
One fan even sent his “deepest deepest condolences” to Peter’s family, saying that the actor touched “us all with his big smile, and his wisdom.”
