On Sunday, Feb. 16, the “Espresso” singer, 25, dazzled the star-studded crowd atSNL’s 50th Anniversary Afterpartyat The Plaza Hotel in New York City, with her rendition of classic songs from different genres. She swapped the glittery gown that she had worn earlier that evening for a white mini-dress with a fur shrug wrapped around her shoulders before taking to the stage.
Carpenter appeared in good spirits as she smiled and danced on stage to the disco song before taking a moment to speak toChappelle.

“We’re gonna do the last part first. I need my beautiful, incredible women on stage right now,” Carpenter said beforeshowing the group the movesshe wanted them to perform for the song.
She dropped to her knees as she poured her emotions into the performance, before standing back up as she sang the lyrics “Life is like a song” with the people on stage behind her swaying side to side.

The performance at the afterparty came after Carpenter teamed up withPaul Simon, 83, to kick off theSaturday Night Live50th anniversary specialwith an acoustic version of the Simon & Garfunkel song “Homeward Bound.”
While Simon has appeared onSNLmultiple times since the 1970s, Carpenter only made her debut on the show in May 2024.
During their performance on Sunday evening, she joked that she and her parents hadn’t been born when Simon joinedGeorge Harrisonto perform “Homeward Bound” in 1976.
“Well, I’m glad they’ll get the chance to hear it tonight,” Simon said.
“Me too!” Carpenter replied, before sharing their version of the 1966 song.
