By “in between” we mean the hilarious moment she pulled out a flask in the middle of the show.

It’s not confirmed if the flask was for a bit, but needless to say fans were all over the surprising move, one commenting, “The flask matching the dress is such icon behavior,” and another writing, “Add this to my list of reasons I love her.”

During the night, she slipped into a sequin tuxedo look that she ripped off to reveal a bedazzled bodysuit for her performance of “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

The gold gown had its moment in the spotlight when Carpenter took the stage to accept thebest pop vocal album awardforShort n’ Sweet, her sixth studio album.

“I’m still out of breath from the performance, so I really was not expecting this,” Carpenter said in her speech.

“And all those nominees that were just on the screen are some of my favorite artists in the world, and I can’t believe I’m nominated against them, or even in this room right now. This is, whoa — my first Grammy, so I’m gonna cry,” said Carpenter. (To note: she previously took home a Grammy prior to the ceremony for best pop solo performance.)
