Sarah Fergusonwears many hats in her life — but no doubt one of her favorite roles is that of grandmother.
The Duchess of York, 65, took her social media followers behind the scenes of life as a grandmother of soon-to-be five, as eldest daughterPrincess Beatriceprepares to welcome her second child with husbandEdoardo Mapelli Mozziin early 2025. Beatrice, 36, and Edo, 41, also share daughter Sienna Elizabeth, 3, and Christopher Woolf, 8 — affectionately known as Wolfie — who is Edo’s child from a previous relationship. Ferguson’s younger daughter,Princess Eugenie, shares sons August, 3, and Ernest, 1, with husbandJack Brooksbank.
On Dec. 1, Fergie shared a joyful family outing to Windsor Great Park Illuminated, a festive light trail set up annually during the holiday season.
“I’m at Windsor Park Illuminated, and I’m with my grandchildren and with my daughter having the best day,” she said in the clip. “It’s Saturday afternoon in the dark! I’m on a giant rooster! Yay!”
Ferguson’s video also showed Eugenie walking hand-in-hand with her sons, the holiday lights casting a festive backdrop to the shot.
In an interview withHello!, Ferguson said, “Grannies exist to spoil their grandchildren, don’t they? I’ll be stuffing their stockings with sweets, toys and treats. I think I’m as excited as they are.”
“I plan a long way ahead,” she said of gift buying habits. “I spot things I think people would like throughout the year and stash them away. Every year I also like to get special baubles made for everyone’s tree.”
She added she’ll be “spending Christmas with family as usual and and hoping to catch up with some friends.”

During an appearance onThis Morningon Oct. 10, the Duchess of York said of being a grandmother, “How do you describe being a grandmother? It’s one of the most precious, joyful, exciting moments, because you’re so proud of your own children, and they’ve done such a good job. But then these are little naughties again, but you can play again.”
“And since I am clearly only a 3-year-old, I am actually loving making Barbie houses again. I forgot [how to do so],” she added.
As a mother to two girls, Ferguson said of now being a grandmother to three boys, “Now I have to play trains.”
“Boys are different, and I’ve got to know how to play with the train and not to do it wrong, and you know, I’ve got to get it right,” she said, adding, “It’s really the most extraordinary thing to be a grandmother.”

For her 65th birthday on Oct. 15,Eugenie took to Instagramto shout out her mother’s skills as “Grannie,” writing alongside a carousel of six photos, “Happy birthday to my beautiful mumma. So proud of the Grannie you are, the mum you are and the woman you are. You’re an inspiration and our endless chats bring me so much happiness and incredible support.”
