Sarah Rafferty's 2 Children: All About Oona and Iris

Sarah Raffertymay be known for playing a mom on the showMy Life with the Walter Boys, but she’s also a mother off-screen to her children, Oona and Iris.

Referencing her character inMy Life with the Walter Boys' large family, the actress said, “I’m so grateful for my two. My two are perfect."

It’s not the first time Rafferty has gushed about how much she loves Oona and Iris.

“They are the light of my life,” she toldParents Canadain 2014. “They are so outgoing and funny and silly. They love to sing and dance, they love each other and they are incredibly affectionate. They crack me up every single day.”

Rafferty and Seppälä welcomed their first child, daughter Oona Gray Seppälä, on Oct. 22, 2007.

On her 13th birthday in 2020, Rafferty celebrated with a sweet photo onInstagramof Oona sitting in front of a birthday cake. “How did that happen? We officially have a teenager. We love her so much we must sing it from the mountaintops. My heart hurts.❤️,” she wrote in the caption.

WhenSuitswas on the air, Rafferty and her family lived a bicoastal lifestyle between Los Angeles and Toronto (where the legal drama was filmed). As a result, Oona grew up going to two different schools.

In a 2013 interview withRedbook, Rafferty revealed that she was “worried” about this set-up but that “it ended up being an amazing, self-esteem-building experience for her. She celebrates it.”

Rafferty has said she is focused on keeping an open and honest relationship with Oona and Iris.

In a 2016 interview withUnivision, when Oona was 8 years old, Rafferty explained that she was teaching her elder daughter the importance of “being true to herself and knowing she can talk to us about absolutely anything.”

“I hope that as she grows and moves about in the world independently, she will feel confident because she feels deeply connected to her family,” theChicago Medstar continued. “I hope she feels we can provide a safe space for anything she wants to talk about.”

In the same interview, Rafferty revealed that both Oona and Iris loved coming to theSuitsset with her, saying their favorite things to do were visit the craft services truck, the hair and makeup trailer and attend fittings.

“My girls have been dressed up in outrageously gorgeous couture on a few occasions,” she said. “Those wardrobe room photos are treasures for me.”

Iris Friday Seppälä, 13

Rafferty and Seppälä welcomed their second daughter, Iris Friday Seppälä, on Jan. 27, 2012.

TheGrey’s Anatomy guest starshared that her girls have always been close. “With my 4-year-old, we focus on empathy,” Rafferty told Univision in 2016. “When her sister was crying the other day, we literally got a tissue and wiped away her tears and kissed her. It was so lovely.”

Rafferty may be most well-known for playing Donna onSuits, but her kids aren’t familiar with the show. In a 2024 interview withNew Beauty, the actress revealed that her daughters didn’t watch the series, although they were often on set with her in Toronto.

“They were calling ‘action’ and ‘cut’ sometimes and they’re incredibly close to the cast and their families,” she shared.

While her daughters don’t actively watch the USA Network series, Rafferty said that Iris saw a few episodes when she was 11 years old and seemed uncomfortable.

“She was like, ‘I just thought it was weird, Mommy. I just want you to be my mommy,’ ” the former cast member recalled.

The actress added that her daughters had watchedMy Life with the Walter Boysand liked it more. In fact, Iris was excited for her mom to take on a starring role in the teen Netflix series.

In a 2023 interview withGlamour, Rafferty said that, according to Iris,My Life with the Walter Boyswould be the next hit series.

“She crushedThe Summer I Turned Pretty, and then crushed [early screeners] ofMy Life with the Walter Boys[so I’m pretty hopeful]!” Rafferty said.
