Scottie Scheffler Talks Ending Up 'in a Jail Cell' as He Digs into PGA Championship Arrest onFull Swing(Exclusive)

Nearly a year afterhis arrest at the PGA Championship,Scottie Scheffleris giving a rare insight into what happened that day.

The clip begins with fellow professional golfer Tom Kim recalling warming up the day when all he sees is “my friend handcuffed, walking to a police car.”

“First of all, I was freaking out because I somehow went from driving into the golf course to a jail cell and I still don’t really know how that happened exactly,” says Scheffler in a voiceover as his arrest video plays on screen. “I don’t think it ever really felt real.”

Scheffler had tried to drive around the crash through the median, but the police said he ignored their orders to stop.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip of the docuseries, another PGA Tour golfer,Joel Dahmen, said he understands how a situation like that happens.

“I completely understand. I have driven past security. I have flashed my badge. It’s chaos, especially when it’s dark,” said Dahmen.

Scheffler ended up being released shortly after the incident without bail and was able to resume playing the tournament.

His arrest, however, ended up with him facing a felony charge of second-degree assault of a police officer, as well as multiple misdemeanor charges, including third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.

“At some point, cooler heads prevail. But I think I was just shocked at how long it carried on,” he said.
