Sold on SLC'sKenny Sperry and Tyna Edwards Reveal to Each Other They Were Both Sexually Abused as Children

Kenny Sperryis revisiting one of the darkest periods in his life.

During Wednesday’s episode ofSold on SLC, the Presidio Real Estate agent opens up about his childhood while on the company’s annual retreat in St. George, Utah. As he and his fellow agents attend a breathwork session during the trip, Sperry is unexpectedly prompted to confront the trauma.

He begins wiping away tears when the instructor goes over to him, and she eventually places her hands on his chest. “Your child self still had to process,” she can be heard saying as the brokerage’s CEO, Jennifer Yeo, comes over to check on Sperry as well.

As the instructor comes back to the front of the group, she asks Sperry directly what he experienced. He says that it was actually positive memories that triggered such a strong reaction in him.

“Just good childhood memories that have been blocked because of a lot of s— that I’ve been through,” he explains.

In a confessional-style clip, he admits that the state he was in during the session “was not a place that I had expected to go.” He adds, “It’s a very vulnerable thing. It’s an embarrassing thing.”

Later in the episode, Sperry has a candid conversation with his colleague, Tyna Edwards, while the two sit outside together away from the rest of the group. Edwards asks him more about the childhood memories that made him break down earlier, leading Sperry to open up to her.

“We went through a lot of really hard things when I was younger,  like my parents’ divorce. There was abuse in the home,” he begins. “I have a picture of me when I’m like three. That picture, knowing what was going to come for me…”

He continues, “So my dad passed away in 2020. It was the closing of a chapter, of a lot of hurt. I would never go as far as to say that I’m thankful for the divorce and the situation because of the hell that it’s brought into my life.”

Despite the hardships he faced, he says his strength through it all has made him into a better father. Sperry recently welcomed his fourth child with his wife Jessica in December 2024, per hisInstagram.

“I will say it’s really helped me to become a better man, a better husband and a better father. And more so now than probably ever,” he adds.

Sperry tells Edwards that the breathwork exercise made him realize that he blocked out both good and bad memories from his childhood as a way to cope. His honesty encourages Edwards to be vulnerable with him in return as she shares that she tragically went through a similar experience when she was younger.

“I was sexually abused as a kid,” she tells Sperry. “And so a lot of my happy memories too I block out. For me it’s more a feeling of unworthiness, and it doesn’t make sense to the outside world. I’m like, okay so I was sexually abused, I must have done something wrong.”

As the two both fight back tears, they thank each other for being so open and willing to share their experiences with each other. In a confessional clip, Edwards emphasizes that she’s “honestly honored that Kenny sees me as someone he can confide in, be vulnerable with and open up to.”
