A “stressed” Massachusetts Amazon delivery driver abandoned about 80 packages in a wooded area, Lakeville, Mass., police said.
At about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, Lakeville Police Sgt. Shawn Robert noticed abandoned items in a wooded area, police said in astatement. Roberts investigated the scene and found three large totes filled with Amazon packages.
Police officers loaded the totes onto a pickup truck and performed an inventory at the Lakeville Police Department. After counting over 80 packages, they contacted a local Amazon distribution center in Middleborough, Mass., to return them. There were no reports of packages being lost or stolen in the area.

Police are not seeking criminal charges against the driver, who was not publicly identified. The driver plans to report the incident to their manager, police said.
“I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter,” Perkins said in the update. “At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon.”
Earlier this week, a FedEx contract worker in Alabamawas arrested for allegedly dumping holiday packagesin the woods and on the side of the road. Latavion Lewis was taken into custody on charges of organized scheme to defraud, grand theft, and illegal dumping and is no longer employed with FedEx.
