Susan Lucciwill never be far from her time onAll My Children.
“I’m certainly the luckiest to have been in the hands of [All My Childrencreator] Agnes Nixon and been given her trust to play this incredible part. She was a groundbreaking storyteller. A lot of her groundbreaking stories were told through Erica Kane,” Lucci shares.
“I got to do comedy within that character as well as drama. So there was never a dull moment. I’m just happy … and proudest of the work I did bringing that character of Erica Kane, this fabulously flawed character, to life. The response from the audience, the response from the fans was thrilling.”

Also thrilling for Lucci is the opporunity to perform in the theater and get that live audience feedback.
“Performing live comes with its own set of excitement and involvement. The audiences gets engaged and it’s terrific,” the Emmy-winning actress says.
“I think especially when you — well, anytime, but especially with comedy — anytime the audience gets engaged, it’s really nice. You’re in this together. The audience is there to laugh and you’re there to find the laughs. It’s very fun to get the response from the audience.”

When it comes toMy First Ex-Husband, Lucci jokes that Kane “would have 10 monologues because none of them worked out.”
“Although she meant it at the time,” she adds in the character’s defense. “She meant ‘I do,’ at the time. It just didn’t seem to work out for her. I mean,Jack Montgomeryis the one who she couldn’t stop marrying, stop loving. So maybe Jack would get his own.”
From Feb. 26 to March 23, Lucci will appear alongside Judy Gold, Tonya Pinkins and Cathy Moriarty inMy First Ex-Husbandat the MMAC Theater in New York City.
