The Weeknd Says 2025 Is Going to Be 'New Everything' as He Performs Spellbinding Spotify Billions Club Live Setlist

2025 is going to beThe Weeknd’s year.

TheDawn FMperformer (whose real name is Abel Tesfaye) took the stage at Spotify’s Billions Club Live in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to perform a jam-packed setlist with songs that reached over 1 billion streams.

Addressing his “OG XO fans” in the crowd after his opening song, the singer-songwriter revealed he has big plans for the new year.

“2024 is almost done but 2025 we’ve got some new s— coming up. New album, new tour, new movie, new everything — we’re shutting this s— down,” The Weeknd, 35, said onstage (he has not announced official dates for a tour in 2025).

At the show, the “Less Than Zero” artist performed beloved songs like “Starboy,” “Blinding Lights” and “Earned It” for an audience of nearly 2,000 of his top Spotify fans.

Before he played his 2015 hit “The Hills,” the star reflected on the time that’s passed and said “you’ve got me back in time.”

At another point in the night, the “Popular” singer said it had been “a while since I’ve been in a venue like this.”

“Feels like back in the Kiss Land tour, the Trilogy tour,” he said, before suggesting “maybe after the stadium tour we’ll go back in time.”

In September, the “Out of Time” musician announced his forthcoming album, the last in his trilogy that began withAfter Hoursand continued withDawn FM.Hurry Up Tomorrowis set for release on Jan. 24. That following night, The Weeknd will put on aone-night-only showat the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, Calif.

When he announced the album title on social media in September, heincluded a videowith a series of reflective statements.

“I look in the mirror and feel both old and new stuck in limbo and unable to move. I still haven’t faced myself," he wrote, in part. “More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right?”

The Weeknd added: “The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits.”
