Tia Mowry Says Being Vulnerable on Her Reality Series Was 'All About Empowerment' (Exclusive)

Tia Mowrysays she is intentional about showcasing her vulnerability.

While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at anOverjoyedlaunch event in Los Angeles on Thursday, Feb. 20, the actress, 46, said she showed some of her life’s lower moments on her reality series,Tia Mowry: My Next Act, to help others.

“Everything that I do, I’m intentional when it comes to my why, so I’m all about empowerment, all about inspiring, all about just helping, educating in any way that I can,” Mowry said.

“It really touched my soul that this show was and has been received, noticed, heard and supported,” she added. “I’m just grateful.”

Tia Mowry: My Next Act, which debuted last fall, takes viewers on a behind-the-scenes look at how the star’s life has shifted since she and ex-husbandCory Hardrictsplit, and how she navigates motherhood and co-parenting while also focusing on her career and rediscovering her sense of self.

Mowry shares son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 6, with Hardrict, 45. The pair split following 14 years of marriage.

One way that Mowry shares admiration for her two kids, she told PEOPLE, is through food, which she said “is a part of my love language.”

Calling herself “a nurturer," Mowry further explained, “I love cooking and baking for others, because I just feel like those moments create beautiful memories with my family, with my friends, with my children.”

She also said that she makes sure to apply Overjoyed’s principles into the foundation of her day-to-day life, explaining, “I have a gratitude journal that I write in every morning, and I think, again, it starts your day off with intention.”

“I truly notice a difference when I focus on gratitude so much that I also have my children do it,” Mowry continued.

Overjoyed is currently available at Albertsons stores, and Overjoyed Boutique is set to debut in May 2025. The 2025 NAACP Image Awards will air live on Feb. 22 at 8:00 p.m. EST on BET.
