Timothée Chalamet Reveals What His Mom Told Him the Moment He Won at SAG Awards: 'You're Chastising Me Still!'

Timothée Chalamet’s mom keeps him grounded.

On Sunday, Feb. 23, the actor, 29,won the prize for best actorat the2025 SAG Awardsfor his portrayal of playingBob DylaninA Complete Unknown. Later, in an interview withExtra, he revealed exactly whathis mom Nicole Flendertold him after he accepted his award.

“She said, ‘Don’t forget to fold your laundry,’ and I was like, ‘Really? This moment? Really? This moment I just won this award, and I’m 29 years old and you’re chastising me still,’ " Chalamet said.

The actor added that his mom may have not been as surprised as he was to hear his name announced during the ceremony. “She might have won me this,” he told Extra. “I grew up in an actors’ building in New York, so I know she really pushed everyone she knew to hit that vote button.”

Chalamet opened up about his big win in anInstagrampost on Monday, Feb. 24 that included a few sweet snaps of him from the special night. One of the photos is of him and his mom posing in the press room as he shows off his trophy.

“YEOOOOOOO I WON I CANT BELIEVE IT !!!!!!!,” he wrote in the caption. “THANK YOU TO MY PEERS FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART !!!!!!! ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE SCREEN ACTORS GUILD !!! GUNNA CELEBRATE TONIGHT THANK U THANK U THANK U !!!!!!!”

TheDunestar went on to note that he had prepared to play Dylan for five years alongside the movie’s director and co-writerJames Mangold. “I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist, Mr. Bob Dylan, a true American hero. And it was the honor of a lifetime playing him,” he said.

Flender shares Chalamet with husband Marc Chalamet. They also have a daughterPauline, 33, who has starred inThe King of Staten IslandandThe Sex Lives of College Girls.

Speaking withThe Guardianin March 2022, Flender said she exposed her kids to the arts from a young age.

“I took them to see many different plays and musicals when they were growing up, and I think seeing certain performances influenced them,” she said. “The productions they’ve seen and, even growing up in New York, has informed who they are today.”
