According to anofficial press release from LEGO, the Twilight set was the brainchild of California-based LEGO enthusiast and proudTwi-hardNick Micheels, as part of the LEGO Ideas programme.

Once he submitted his design, 10,000 people voted for it to be made into a real set in less than 48 hours, making it one of the fastest submissions to reach the voting benchmark to date.

“The amazing submissions on the LEGO Ideas site that demonstrated how dynamic the LEGO system is inspired me to submit my own idea," said Micheels, per LEGO’s press release. “I decided to create a Twilight build because I’m a massive fan of the saga, and imagining a LEGO interpretation of the films made me so happy!”
